In the region of Garafia the canarian people make their living working the land, rearing goats, or tending vines to produce the award winning local wines.
Nestled between the vineyards and the forest you will find the holiday cottage Casa del Riachuelo , named after the ancient spring which used to flow nearby.
Casa del Riachuelo is a single storey self-catering cottage completely restored in the traditional Canarian style.
Ideal for getting away from the stress and noise of modern life, it also makes a good centre for exploring the north of La Palma by car, walking, or just relaxing.
Built approximately 100 years ago, with a roof made of traditional canarian pine wood known as tea (pronounced te-a), Casa del Riachuelo is in the picturesque north of La Palma. Ideally suited for 2 people. The main bedroom overlooks the canarian pine forests of the north of La Palma. Nearby is the restaurant Briesta serving traditional Canarian food. In the nearby village of Llano Negro there is a small village shop and a bar that are open both during the day and early evening.
Living room and kitchen
At one end of the house is a lounge/dining room and kitchen. The lounge features a glass fronted fireplace, digital flat screen television, and a sofa-bed capable of sleeping an additional 2 people.
The kitchen is equipped with a large fridge/freezer, a 4 ring electric hob,a single sink and a full supply of plates, pots, and knives and forks. The dining table seats 4 people.
The lounge/dining area opens out on to the patio at the front of the house.
Bedroom and bathroom
The spacious and romantic bedroom has a double bed. The tiled floor and wooden ceiling give an authentic La Palma feeling. There are bedside tables with lamps and fitted wardrobe. The bedroom window gives amazing views over the forest and sea.
The bathroom has a shower, and washbasin. Hot water is provided by an electric water heater located in the bathroom.
Gardens and environment
The cottage is surrounded by spacious gardens with abundant trees and flowers, hidden within the gardens are numerous areas to sit, relax and watch the local wildlife in its natural habitat. Above the house is a seating area, prefect for eating an evening meal, with a glass of local wine, watching the sun set.
The house is accessed by a 200m concrete drive from a surfaced road, there is ample parking for 2 small cars.
